AIM’s Home State of Texas Honored for Dropout Prevention Best Practices

TexasStateFlagThe National Governor’s Association (NGA) recently recognized Texas as having some of the best practices for dropout prevention. Headquartered in Dallas, TX, Attendance Improvement Management’s is currently helping more schools in Texas than any other state to reduce truancy rates.

According to a study by the Texas Education Agency, high school dropout rates have dropped in Texas between 2006-2007 and 2007-2008, which the NGA believes is due to Texas’s focus to reengage dropouts and bring them back to the classroom.

During that time, Texas Governor Rick Perry enacted the largest teacher performance pay plan in the nation – placing more accountability on individual schools and districts which has produced noticeable gains.

Many schools in Texas have turned to the AIM program which has a track record of reducing truancy and dropout rates and improving graduation rates. Town officials in Beeville, TX called the AIM program, “Life Changing,” and in Montgomery County, TX the AIM program is being expanded after an incredible 100% success rate.

“One student who drops out is one dropout too many,” Says Governor Perry. “Working with legislators, educators and community leaders, Texas has taken deliberate steps to decrease the dropout rate to ensure students have a chance to succeed, and we will continue working together to apply innovative approaches to keep our students in the classroom and on the path to success.”
