April 15, 2010 - KSAT San Antonio recently did a feature on Justice of the Peace Rogelio Lopez and his use of the AIM program to reduce school truancy in the area. “If we don’t do something to keep our kids in school, we’re going to lose an entire generation,” Judge Lopez told KSAT. Three school districts in San Antonio currently have the AIM program running in their system, and all have seen attendance figures and grades move in positive directions over the last year.

March 3, 2010 – In San Antonio, parents and school administrators all agree that reducing truancy is important – but how the two groups would combat the program wasn’t as clear cut. However, after instituting Attendance Improvement Management’s (AIM) truancy reduction program, all three districts saw success.

“Every school has challenges with keeping students in school and getting them to cross the stage at graduation,” Northside I.S.D. spokesperson, Pascual Gonzalez, told WOAI-TV in San Antonio.

While searching for the answer, the school district came across the AIM program and after careful consideration decided to give it a try.

“The students have been going to school,” Gonzalez noted. “It appears to be a very successful pilot and we’re looking to expand it.”

In addition to Northside Independent School District, the AIM program is also used by San Antonio and Judson districts. During a recent board meeting, the districts agreed to make the AIM program a permanent part of their truancy reduction programs.

Several news media outlets were on hand for the first day of the program – here’s what they had to say:

Attendance Improvement Management Comes to West Oso High School

“ A state of the art G.P.S. tracking system. is now part of a new program that kicked off today in the West Oso School district. It’s called “A.I.M.” and it’s aimed not only at stopping truancy but also at keeping more kids from dropping out of school.”

(From kiiitv.com)

“Our first goal is to align with the kids and find out what success means to them. Eighty percent of what we do is coaching, and that’s what allows us to change the student’s behavior and reshape the way they think about school and the decisions they make.”

(From The Caller)

“We call these kids in the morning to make sure they are up and ready to go, and then throughout the day we interact with these kids 6 to 8 times a day. We have them doing something or we’re interacting with them and the reason we do that is to keep these students engaged and to hold them accountable and make sure they are doing what they need to be doing,” said CEO of AIM Travis Knox.”

(From KRIStv.com)

January 20, 2010 – Over the last week, team members from Attendance Improvement Management (AIM) have been traveling around Texas launching new partnerships in Bryan and Port Arthur, Texas.
